Established in 2021, Elixir Surf School has been teaching surfing with passion, dedication, and deep ocean understanding. Led by instructors with over 20 years of combined experience, the school offers structured guidance for both beginners and intermediate surfers. The coaching approach focuses not only on technique inside the water but also on ocean awareness, safety, and wave understanding outside the water — ensuring well-rounded progression.
Elixir maintains small batch sizes so that each student receives personalized attention based on their skill level and confidence in the ocean. Alongside professional surf training, the school offers a welcoming surf hostel environment equipped with indoor games, surf skates, and community spaces designed for connection and recovery. I was pretty sceptical about surfing, but I decided to try a class with Elixir in Varkala and ended up really enjoying it. The instructors have great energy and make the whole experience fun. After the first session I booked five more to understand a bit more the basics.
If you go, I’d recommend the 6am lesson as at 7.30 the beach gets busy with other surf schools, and the early slot gives you more space and a good sunrise.
This might be the start of my surf journey, and Elixir turned out to be a great place to begin.

Varkarla has a lot of surf schools. I heard of them through a friend and I heard a lot of good things! Elixr Surf did not disappoint! I was a complete beginner and this is the first time I was trying Surfing. On day one, Kichu was my instructor and boy was he good! He explained the whole process so well! On day one itself I could catch a couple of waves! After each failed attempt, he’d tell you exactly what went wrong and all the insights really helped! The guy is max helpful and very insightful! Each time I had a doubt, no matter how stupid, he’d be extremely patient about it and help out! Shout out to my man Kichu!!!! I surfed with Elixr for 3 days and was to surf for a one or two extra days but I had to cut my trip short! I will come back to Varkarla for sure for more surfing with Elixr! 😁
