Frequently Asked Questions Around Skiing & Snowboarding
1. Do I need to know how to ski before I go to Gulmarg or Auli?
No. Both Gulmarg and Auli have certified ski schools with instructors who teach complete beginners. You’ll start on gentle slopes and progress step by step.
2. What’s the best season for skiing in India?
The ski season runs from late December to early March, when snowfall is heaviest. January and February usually have the most consistent snow.
3. How fit do I need to be for skiing?
You don’t need to be super athletic, but basic fitness helps. Skiing involves balance, leg strength, and stamina—you’ll build these naturally as you practice.
4. Can I do work from home while learning skiing?
Not really. Ski lessons usually run for 4–5 hours a day, and you’ll be physically tired after spending hours on the slopes. It’s better to treat it as a holiday where you disconnect and focus on the sport.
5. What should I pack for a ski trip?
Warm layers, waterproof jackets, gloves, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essentials. Ski schools usually provide skis, boots, and poles.
6. Is skiing safe for beginners in India?
Yes. Certified instructors make sure you progress safely. Helmets are provided, and most ski schools start you on easy slopes before moving to steeper terrain
